Fine jewellery purchases low in 2008; JCOC

The Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) conducted a survey to understand the holiday purchase pattern of 2008. Purchases, overall, including jewellery seem to have gone down.
According to the survey, the percentage of consumers who spent between "$100 and $200" on fine jewellery has decreased to 19% from the earlier 31% last year.

Observing a slight change in the shopping pattern as compared to 2007, the report revealed that there was an increase in the percentage of respondents who shopped at mass discount stores and at department stores.
